About The Position

Minnesota Eye Consultants (MEC) is hiring a full-time, on-site LPN Coordinator for its Ambulatory Surgery Center in Woodbury, Minnesota. The LPN Coordinator ensures surgical patients are medically optimized for their procedures. The role supports providers by answering surgical patient calls, e-prescribing medications, triaging patient concerns, answering general patient calls, and completing medical administrative tasks and patient paperwork to support superior patient care.

Requirements

Current LPN license.
Current BLS certification.
Open and willing to try new workflows and ideas.
Ability to remain calm and escalate issues to appropriate levels of management.
Comprehensive knowledge of an EHR system and ability to use it efficiently.
Knowledge of medical terminology.

Responsibilities

Complete all preoperative surgical calls for the Ambulatory Surgery Center.
Ensure surgical charts are complete, including H&P, blood work, EKG, IOL pick, and surgery order.
Triage patient calls regarding ocular concerns and determine whether a clinic visit is necessary.
Document calls in the Patient Communication log in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
Review pathology reports, contact patients and/or providers with results as directed, and record communications in the EHR.
Complete medication refill requests received by fax, phone, or patient portal.
Answer patient calls and portal requests, provide education, and respond to questions.
Send tasks via the EHR when assistance from other team members is needed.
Complete same-day post-operative surgical calls.
Participate in trainings and meet requirements for Merit Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) measures, HIPAA compliance, and Protected Health Information.
Perform assigned patient-related duties to support quality patient care.
Perform other duties as assigned.
