About The Position

The Loss Prevention Specialist helps create a safe, secure, and compliant store environment by protecting people, assets, and company integrity. The role supports theft deterrence, shrink reduction, compliance, and operational excellence while providing a safe environment for customers, associates, and vendors. It takes place in a dynamic, fast-paced store environment and requires awareness, integrity, and a commitment to safety and service.

The specialist monitors store activity, checkout and receiving areas, and security systems; investigates suspected theft, fraud, safety risks, and operational issues; and documents and communicates findings. The role includes responding to alarms, apprehending individuals committing theft in accordance with company policies and applicable laws, conducting audits and investigations, and working with store leadership and law enforcement when needed. The specialist also trains and communicates with associates about loss prevention, safety, and compliance practices.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a visible presence to support a safe and secure store environment for customers, associates, and vendors while delivering excellent customer service.
• Monitor checkout areas and review exception reports to identify fraud and associate dishonesty and ensure compliance with cash-handling policies.
• Conduct surveillance throughout the store to detect theft, safety risks, and operational issues.
• Apprehend individuals committing theft in accordance with company policies and applicable laws, ensuring the safety of all parties.
• Respond to electronic article surveillance (EAS) alarms and investigate incidents.
• Monitor receiving and storage areas and conduct delivery audits to detect vendor fraud and ensure procedural compliance.
• Conduct inspections and audits related to shrink control, safety, and physical security standards; document and communicate findings.
• Maintain and operate asset protection equipment, including CCTV, EAS systems, and alarm systems.
• Conduct investigations as directed, including thorough documentation, and partner with store leadership and law enforcement as needed.
• Train and communicate with associates on loss prevention, safety, and compliance practices while identifying and addressing unsafe conditions.
