About The Position

PAQ, Inc. is hiring a Loss Prevention Agent to prevent financial loss caused by theft and fraud and support store safety and security. The agent works independently as well as closely with store management and staff, and may coordinate with law enforcement. The role requires vigilance, integrity, sound judgment, and the ability to professionally address challenging situations while helping maintain a secure shopping environment.

The position is based at a PAQ, Inc. store and is on-site. Work is primarily indoors in a climate-controlled, adequately lit and ventilated environment, with occasional outdoor duties in all weather conditions. The agent may encounter moving mechanical parts, cleaning chemicals, noisy periods, and difficult or confrontational individuals. Work schedules are flexible and may include shifts, early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays depending on store needs. Business-casual attire is expected, with personal protective equipment used as required.

This is a regular, full-time, non-exempt position with a stated pay range of $23.00–$36.00. The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent and one to three years of loss prevention experience in a retail environment. Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One to three years of loss prevention experience in a retail environment.
• Understanding of retail or grocery store operations, including sales, inventory management, and customer service.
• Knowledge of loss prevention strategies, surveillance systems, and inventory control methods.
• Familiarity with local, state, and federal laws regarding theft, fraud, and retail security, including legal considerations for detaining suspects, handling evidence, and court testimony.
• Proficiency with surveillance technologies, including CCTV and alarm systems.
• Ability to detect suspicious activity and identify security risks, with strong attention to detail and investigative judgment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including diplomatic interactions and report writing.
• Ability to de-escalate volatile situations, mediate conflicts, and resolve issues calmly and effectively.
• Ability to make sound decisions quickly under pressure and in ambiguous situations.
• Strong integrity and ethics, including appropriate handling of confidential information.
• Ability to adapt to changing situations, handle multiple incidents, and work effectively in a dynamic retail environment.
• Ability to work flexible hours and shifts, including some weekends and holidays, as needed.
• Ability to move around the store and stand for long periods; walk, climb stairs, and navigate crowded spaces.
• Ability to occasionally lift or move objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Visual and auditory acuity to observe suspicious activity, monitor security cameras, and detect sounds indicating theft or emergencies.
• Manual dexterity to operate security equipment, manage handcuffs if applicable and legally permitted, and write reports.
• Physical stamina to patrol store premises extensively and handle potential confrontations effectively; ability to bend, stoop, and reach as needed.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular and random store patrols to identify and deter potential theft by customers or employees.
• Monitor CCTV systems and review footage to investigate theft, vandalism, and suspicious activity.
• Engage professionally with suspects to address and resolve potential theft incidents.
• Collaborate with store management and staff, and occasionally law enforcement, to report and resolve theft and fraud incidents.
• Implement and maintain loss prevention policies and procedures, adapting strategies to minimize risks.
• Assess risks in store operations and recommend improvements to prevent losses.
• Prepare detailed reports on incidents and loss prevention activities for store management.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
