Logistics Specialist

Plug PowerAlbany, NY
$60,000 - $93,750

About The Position

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Logistics & Trade Compliance Specialist to join our Global Logistics team. This dual-function role is critical to ensuring the smooth movement of complex industrial shipments while maintaining full regulatory compliance across our global supply chain. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience with heavy haul and out-of-gauge (OOG) freight alongside a working knowledge of import/export trade compliance in an industrial or manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • 5–7 years of logistics or supply chain experience, with significant exposure to international and project-based logistics.
  • Demonstrated experience with heavy haul, OOG, and project cargo coordination
  • Strong knowledge of 2020 Incoterms, trade compliance requirements, and global shipping documentation.
  • Strong cross-functional relationship builder who takes initiative to find the right people and get things done — not someone who waits for information to come to them.
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 tools including SharePoint and Teams for document collaboration and file management.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Proven experience with ERP/MRP systems; Avante or SAP preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to present insights to leadership.
  • Self-motivated, results-driven, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • Direct HTS/ECCN classification experience is a plus but not required
  • Licensed Customs Broker (LCB), Certified Customs Specialist (CCS), Certified Classification Specialist (CCS), or similar trade compliance certification is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate heavy haul and out-of-gauge (OOG) shipments from origin to job site, managing all logistics from quotation through final delivery.
  • Arrange and manage domestic and international freight across all modes — ocean, air, truck, and parcel.
  • Partner directly with construction project managers to align and adjust delivery schedules as project timelines shift, ensuring equipment arrives when crews need it.
  • Partner with carriers, freight forwarders, brokers, and 3PLs to optimize service, cost, and performance.
  • Align logistics planning with project timelines, budgets, and customer requirements.
  • Own customs clearance escalations and resolve issues at port of arrival before they impact project schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. and international trade regulations.
  • Manage import/export operations, export classifications and customs documentation.
  • Direct HTS/ECCN classification experience is a plus but not required — what matters is the ability to oversee consultant work, ask the right questions, and maintain data accuracy in our parts database.
  • Approach trade compliance not just as a regulatory obligation but as a lever for cost reduction — actively identifying duty savings, FTA opportunities, and classification strategies that benefit the business.

Benefits

  • Health, Dental & Vision Insurance eligibility starting from the first day of hire
  • 401(k) with 5% company match
  • Bonus eligibility
  • Paid time off including vacation, personal and sick time
  • Paid Holidays
