About The Position

The fabrication shop Logistics / Shipping and Receiving Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the movement, documentation, and accuracy of materials entering and leaving the facility. Our facility is a Braddock-based welding/fabrication shop that manufactures a wide variety of steel components. We very quickly weld, palletize, and ship fabricated items on a daily basis. This role verifies shipments, maintains inventory records, prepares shipping documentation, and supports material flow throughout the shop. In addition to core shipping and receiving duties, the position performs a variety of manual labor tasks to support fabrication, material handling, and general shop operations. The role requires strong attention to detail, safe work habits, and the ability to perform physical labor in a fast‑paced industrial environment.

Requirements

  • Strong problem-solving mindset with the initiative to dig into issues and propose solutions
  • Capable of maintaining accurate project records, reports, and drawing packages
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple jobs at once

Nice To Haves

  • Technical/trade certification preferred
  • 2+ years warehouse/inventory or related experience preferred, not required

Responsibilities

  • Verify incoming and outgoing shipments by comparing materials to manifests, packing slips, purchase orders, or other records.
  • Prepare shipping documents such as bills of lading, labels, and shipping orders, MTR packages, etc.
  • Load and unload trucks, ensuring materials are staged, stored, or distributed correctly.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and update logs, spreadsheets, or ERP systems.
  • Coordinate with Purchasing, Production, and Project Management to schedule deliveries and pickups.
  • Ensure materials are properly packaged, labeled, and prepared for shipment to job sites or customers prior to scheduled ship dates.
  • Requisition, store, and organize materials, supplies, and consumables.
  • Maintain orderly storage areas and ensure materials are accessible and properly identified.
  • Perform a variety of manual labor tasks including material handling, cleanup, and equipment movement.
  • Load and unload materials, equipment, and fabricated goods between staging areas and workstations.
  • Move or rig materials using forklifts, overhead cranes, hoists, slings, or manual methods.
  • Read cut sheets or basic drawings and operate saws to cut materials to length.
  • Apply shop coatings to materials as required.
  • Perform basic safety checks and preventive maintenance on tools and equipment.
  • Clean and maintain work areas, tools, and equipment.
  • Drive company delivery trucks to transport materials as assigned.
  • Using tape measures, squares, levels, chalk lines, hammers, pry bars, come‑a‑longs, chain falls, rigging hardware, brushes, and cribbing blocks.
  • Using grinders, saws, shipping guns, impact wrenches, hoists, and material‑handling equipment.
  • Using forklifts, overhead cranes, pallet jacks, aerial work platforms, and staging equipment.
  • Follow all established safety and quality procedures.
  • Use required PPE including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, safety-toe footwear, and fall‑protection equipment.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
