About The Position

MedSpeed is hiring a part-time medical driver in Los Gatos, California, to transport medical materials for healthcare organizations. The schedule is Saturday and Sunday from 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with pay of $21.00–$24.75 per hour. Most of the workday is spent driving a company-owned vehicle to transport lab specimens, medical records, pharmaceuticals, X-rays, hospital supplies, interoffice mail, and related materials. Training is provided through MedSpeed’s Blue Shirt Certified program. Route duties and assignments may vary based on client and business needs.

The position involves driving a non-commercial vehicle on varied roads and in varying weather, as well as lifting and carrying items up to 50 pounds, lifting items from storage racks, walking long distances, and standing for extended periods. Candidates must meet the stated age and driving-history requirements and be able to pass initial and random drug and alcohol screening. COVID-19 vaccination proof may be required depending on location and local mandates. MedSpeed conducts background checks after a conditional offer, in compliance with the California Fair Chance Act.

Requirements

• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Be at least 19 years old and have held an active driver’s license for 3 years.
• Demonstrated dependability and reliability.
• Familiarity working with and adapting to technology.
• Demonstrated ability to follow procedures closely.
• Ability to determine efficient routing between multiple points.
• Ability to pass initial and random drug and alcohol screening.
• Ability to drive a non-commercial vehicle throughout the shift on various roads and in varying weather conditions.
• Excellent driving history.
• Proof of COVID-19 vaccination, depending on location and local mandates.
• Ability to regularly lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to handle varying item weights and physical demands, lift items from storage racks, walk long distances, and stand for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Safely drive a company-owned vehicle to transport lab specimens, medical records, pharmaceuticals, X-rays, hospital supplies, interoffice mail, and related materials.
• Use a handheld scanning device to track items accurately throughout the transportation cycle.
• Follow operating policies, procedures, and service schedules.
• Present a professional image in interactions with clients and the public.
• Load and unload company vehicles using appropriate equipment.
• Demonstrate safe and courteous driving behavior.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and keep the vehicle clean, neat, and orderly.
• Perform duties across assigned routes; adapt to route assignments that may change based on client and business needs.
• Demonstrate teamwork, cooperation, and adaptability with teammates and clients.
• Help build and nurture a collaborative MedSpeed team culture.
