About The Position

The Logistics Manager promotes safe vehicle operations and develops a safety-first culture within the department. The role ensures that daily transportation equipment operations meet company service and efficiency standards. The manager develops and communicates schedules to Commercial Vehicle Operators (CVOs) to maximize revenue and minimize expenses while operating safely and legally under federal, state, and company regulations. The position supervises assigned CVOs, plans customer deliveries, oversees vehicle maintenance, maintains required driver records and qualifications, and ensures compliance with Department of Transportation and Federal Motor Carrier Safety regulations. It also handles department billing, timekeeping, payroll approvals, and process improvements. The manager keeps Store Managers and Service Managers informed about trucking requests and supports a high standard of customer service.

Requirements

Relevant industry (truck fleet) experience.
At least six months of related experience and a steady work record.
Knowledge of federal hours-of-service, safety, and transportation regulatory issues.
Ability to set work priorities, work independently without supervision, and understand and carry out oral and written directions.
Ability to maintain team member motivation and focus on customer satisfaction.
Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with reasonable accommodations where applicable.
Ability to get around the dealership and grounds for various tasks.
Normally lift or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
Ability to bend, stoop, reach above and below shoulder height, sit at least eight hours per day, perform keyboard operations at least six hours per day, and stand and climb stairs as required.
Ability to climb a step up to 25 inches high and meet health assessment requirements.

Responsibilities

Supervise assigned Commercial Vehicle Operators, including counseling, hiring, and terminations.
Communicate shipment assignments clearly, concisely, and respectfully to CVOs.
Plan profitable and effective customer deliveries.
Oversee equipment maintenance and approve commercial vehicle maintenance invoices promptly.
Maintain driver logs, records, and commercial driving qualifications in compliance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
Conduct performance reviews for CVOs.
Oversee compliance with DOT regulations, including hours-of-service rules, federal regulations, and training.
Review CVO accidents and arrange related retraining when necessary.
Perform administrative functions, including billing work orders and timekeeping and payroll approval for departments.
Develop, propose, and implement approved processes for managing trucking department time and billing costs.
Keep Store Managers and Service Managers informed of daily progress and accomplishments related to trucking requests.
Maintain a safe working environment and follow the company safety program.
Ensure customers are satisfied with the products, services, and staff support; resolve customer concerns efficiently and effectively.
Promote a positive attitude, maintain a professional appearance and demeanor, provide Birkey's customer service, and acknowledge customers' appreciation.
Perform other duties as assigned.
