Logistics Manager
About The Position
The Logistics Manager, based at Priority Waste’s Burton, Michigan yard, leads a team of drivers and coordinates daily logistics operations to deliver safe, efficient, high-quality waste collection services. The role acts as a liaison among drivers, customers, and internal teams, providing real-time driver support, overseeing route performance, resolving customer concerns, and improving the driver and customer experience. The position also monitors operational compliance, supports driver onboarding and development, and identifies improvements to service efficiency and cost savings. The manager oversees waste storage areas, documentation, equipment, and procedures at the Burton yard.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience in logistics, transportation, or a related field.
- Supervisory experience.
- Strong knowledge of routing, dispatch, and fleet operations.
- Proven leadership, communication, and team development skills.
- Ability to problem-solve, prioritize, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and logistics or route management systems.
- Customer-focused approach and strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively, respond to changing needs, and recognize the impact of work quality on company success.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and support drivers through daily oversight, coaching, and performance management.
- Assign and adjust routes and carrier responsibilities to support efficient service delivery.
- Provide real-time support to drivers and resolve service, safety, and equipment issues.
- Serve as an escalation point for customer concerns and ensure timely, effective resolution.
- Communicate with drivers and internal teams by phone, Microsoft Teams chat, and video.
- Collaborate with logistics, customer service, and quality teams to improve service.
- Track, trace, and update daily waste removal route status using internal systems.
- Monitor route performance and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with onboarding and training new drivers and provide ongoing coaching.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and implement operational enhancements.
- Monitor waste storage areas, documentation, equipment, and procedures at the Burton yard.
