Requirements

  • Strong working knowledge of international freight, including ocean FCL/LCL, air freight, and domestic drayage operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to own and resolve exceptions, incidents, and escalations in a fast-moving environment.
  • Ability to work with data in Google Sheets or Excel, build trackers, and produce reporting independently.
  • Baseline familiarity with customs and trade compliance workflows, including ISF, CBP entry-process basics, and document collection.
  • Clear written communication skills for professional correspondence with carriers, forwarders, and 3PLs and concise, complete internal updates.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, comfort with ambiguity, ownership, and continuous improvement.
  • Process design and systems thinking, including experience translating an operational need into a tool, tracker, or automation and collaborating with engineers or analysts to build it.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with drayage and 3PL coordination in transpacific lanes to LA/LGB or the Midwest.

  • Customs brokerage coordination experience, including CBP holds, ISF corrections, entry review, and standard customs documentation.
  • Experience in a consumer goods or eCommerce company with an omnichannel distribution model.
  • Prior experience managing or mentoring junior logistics staff.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day bookings, exception escalations, and performance follow-ups with freight forwarders, serving as the primary operational contact.
  • Manage the forwarder-to-drayage handoff, ensuring cargo moves from vessel discharge to fulfillment centers in Reno, Nevada, and Indianapolis, Indiana, without gaps in ownership or communication.
  • Coordinate fulfillment-center facility transfers, including inbound routing decisions, cross-dock timing, and delivery sequencing.
  • Audit forwarder rates, accessorials, and SLA performance; flag variances and drive them to resolution.
  • Operate cargo tracking systems, including TMS, forwarder systems, and internal trackers; maintain shipment visibility, proactively escalate delays, and keep stakeholders informed.
  • Manage shipping data and documentation workflows, ensuring commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, and ISF filings are captured, filed, and accessible.
  • Lead exception and incident management, including delayed vessels, missed drayage pickups, CBP holds, and cargo claims, and drive issues through resolution.
  • Support the Director of Logistics with compliance operations, including ISF filing coordination, CBP exam responses, customs document collection, and UFLPA documentation workflows.
  • Improve processes, tools, and documentation to support operational consistency across lanes and partners.
  • Identify root causes of recurring problems and develop processes to prevent recurrence.
  • Translate operational workflow needs into buildable system requirements and work with engineers or no-code tools to make processes repeatable and scalable.
