About The Position

The Logistics Coordinator oversees logistics, from coordinating material deliveries and managing inventory to scheduling dispatches. The role works closely with production, procurement, and project management teams to ensure materials and equipment arrive on-site on time and support efficient job completion and client satisfaction. The position requires independent judgment when selecting carriers, negotiating rates, and resolving problem loads, as well as managing transportation arrangements from pickup through delivery and maintaining effective relationships with shippers, carriers, and team members. This is a hybrid position requiring the employee to live within commuting distance of Knoxville, Tennessee. The position does not provide sponsorship.

Requirements

College degree in Logistics, Business, or a related field.
2–3 years of experience in logistics coordination.
Strong analytical and data management skills.
Business savvy with a strategic mindset.
Effective leadership and teamwork abilities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and supply chain software.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Ability to communicate effectively by phone, email, and in person.
Ability to recognize when action is necessary and take appropriate action within a reasonable time.
Ability to prioritize workflow and use time effectively.
Ability to perform mathematical calculations, including calculating transit times.
Competency in exercising discretion and good judgment.
Must be within commuting distance of Knoxville, Tennessee.

Responsibilities

Coordinate and schedule deliveries of materials, products, equipment, and tools.
Monitor inbound and outbound logistics to ensure materials arrive on time and are accurately accounted for.
Maintain inventory records, conduct regular stock checks, and manage reorders to avoid shortages.
Collaborate with project managers and suppliers to optimize logistics and meet project timelines.
Coordinate with the production team to ensure orders are prepared for timely shipment and delivery.
Prepare and manage shipping and receiving documentation in compliance with regulatory standards.
Troubleshoot delivery and scheduling issues and implement solutions to minimize delays and disruptions.
Support improvements to logistics workflows and operational efficiency.
Select appropriate carriers, negotiate carrier rates, resolve problem loads, and manage transportation from pre-pickup through delivery.
Communicate with shippers, carriers, and team members, and build and maintain carrier relationships.
