About The Position

Our Medicine Hat site is crucial in delivering advanced uncrewed vehicle systems (UVS) and supporting global defence operations.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in shipping, logistics, or supply chain coordination within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Experience coordinating domestic and international freight shipments.
  • Familiarity with customs documentation, freight forwarders, and transportation regulations.
  • Experience working with ERP or MRP systems and shipment tracking tools.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
  • Proven experience in logistics coordination or a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of shipping processes and carrier management.
  • Must be a Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident of Canada.
  • Able to obtain a Canadian Class 2 Security clearance.
  • Must have a clean background history and obtain criminal record check.

Nice To Haves

  • Diploma or degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with the transportation of dangerous goods.
  • IATA Certifications for air and sea dangerous goods shipments.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate the shipping process from order confirmation to final delivery, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Arrange transportation with carriers, freight forwarders, and couriers, negotiating competitive rates and maintaining service reliability.
  • Track and monitor shipments in transit, proactively resolving issues or delays and providing regular updates to stakeholders.
  • Work with vendors to arrange pickup and delivery of incoming materials, components, and production supplies.
  • Coordinate domestic and international freight movements (LTL, FTL, courier, specialized freight).
  • Coordinate inbound logistics to ensure materials align with production schedules and operational requirements.
  • Collaborate with production, purchasing, and warehouse teams to prioritize shipments and support manufacturing timelines and customer deliveries.
  • Work with the Controlled Goods Supervisor to ensure compliance with all export laws and regulations.
  • Maintain detailed records of shipments, freight costs, and logistics activity.
  • Screen drivers and companies to ensure Controlled Goods Compliance.
  • Pack, palletize, secure, and load outgoing shipments using appropriate materials and material-handling equipment (e.g., forklifts and pallet jacks).
  • Receive, unload, and inspect incoming shipments for accuracy and compliance with quality and safety standards, identifying and reporting any damage, shortages, or discrepancies.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate shipping documentation, including bills of lading, shipping labels, packing slips, and customs paperwork.
  • Coordinate customs clearance for international shipments and work with freight forwarders and customs brokers.
  • Communicate with customers to provide order status updates, address shipping inquiries, and resolve delivery-related issues.
  • Provide regular updates to the business on shipping and logistics status, ensuring timely communication of any delays.
  • Enter shipping data into the shipment tracker and maintain accurate logistics records within internal tracking systems.
  • Ensure compliance with all shipping, transportation, safety, environmental, and customs regulations.
  • Identify and implement improvements to shipping and logistics processes to enhance efficiency, reduce freight costs, and improve supply chain performance.
