About The Position

Northwest Hardwoods is a leading North American hardwood lumber manufacturer and an integrated global supplier serving the furniture, cabinet, molding, and millwork industries. The plant team transforms hardwood logs into lumber through sawmill operations, production, grading, kiln drying, surfacing, packaging, and quality control. The Log Lift Operator safely and efficiently handles, moves, sorts, stacks, and prepares logs throughout the production process, helping maintain safety and product quality.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.
Available to work Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturdays and overtime.
Able to work around noise, dust, changing temperatures, and other conditions common to a sawmill or lumber manufacturing environment.
Able to safely perform the physical requirements of the position, including climbing on and off equipment and handling lumber-related materials.
Previous experience in lumber manufacturing or lumber material handling.
Three to five years of experience operating larger lift trucks.
Hardworking, dependable, safety-minded, and comfortable with hands-on, physically active work.

Responsibilities

Follow safety protocols and policies.
Operate the Log Lift to unload incoming log trucks, move logs, and feed them to the sawmill's log deck.
Identify log species and organize logs for efficient processing; stack logs in the yard.
Perform daily equipment checks, keep equipment clean, and conduct minor maintenance.
Follow safety rules, communicate with truck drivers, and coordinate with the log yard team.
Identify and correct quality issues in log placement and handling.
