About The Position

This is a locum tenens position for a Neonatology Physician within a multispecialty group and hospital setting. The role involves providing care to a predominantly Medicaid and privately insured patient population. The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) has an average daily census of approximately 35 patients, with around 3,000 births annually in the CFH Labor & Delivery unit. NICU providers are required to attend all deliveries involving gestational ages under 32 weeks or with known congenital anomalies. The team is well-supported by Nurse Practitioners (NNPs), registered nurses (RNs), respiratory therapists, RN managers, supervisors, and a department director, along with a vice president.

Requirements

  • Board Certified in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine.
  • Active Illinois medical license.
  • Active Illinois DEA registration.
  • NRP completion is mandatory.
  • Availability to be provided upon request.
  • Current, comprehensive CV.

  • Board Eligible in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine.
  • Candidates who are clean and easy to credential.

Responsibilities

  • Provide night coverage shifts (95% of the time) from 5 PM to 8 AM (15-hour shifts).
  • Be on call for one or two consecutive nights.
  • Attend deliveries, especially those with gestational ages under 32 weeks or known congenital anomalies.
  • Perform procedures including line placements, intubation, chest tube placements, lumbar punctures, and exchange transfusions.
  • Complete the Stratum Med Cover Sheet.
  • Provide references following the Stratum process.
