About The Position

This on-site, contract opportunity is ideal for an Associate-level physician who values flexibility, collaboration, and high-quality patient care in a dynamic healthcare environment. In this role, you will provide expert gastroenterology services, including the diagnosis, treatment, and management of digestive system disorders. As a locum physician, you will support the existing clinical team by delivering timely consultations, performing gastroenterology procedures, and ensuring continuity of care for patients across the practice.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution
  • Board certification or board eligibility in Gastroenterology
  • Active, unrestricted medical license in the applicable jurisdiction
  • Associate-level experience in gastroenterology or related clinical practice
  • Proficiency in endoscopic procedures and gastrointestinal diagnostics
  • Strong clinical judgment and ability to work independently in a locum setting
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Commitment to providing high-quality, patient-centered care
  • Ability to work on-site in McHenry for the duration of the contract
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and standard medical documentation practices
  • Must be board-certified

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive gastroenterology consultations and assessments for patients
  • Perform and interpret diagnostic procedures such as endoscopy, colonoscopy, and related examinations
  • Develop individualized treatment plans for acute and chronic gastrointestinal conditions
  • Collaborate with nursing staff, primary care physicians, and specialists to optimize patient care
  • Document patient histories, findings, and treatment plans accurately in medical records
  • Order and interpret laboratory, imaging, and other diagnostic tests as clinically indicated
  • Communicate diagnoses and management recommendations clearly to patients and their families
  • Participate in on-call coverage and urgent gastroenterology consultations as required by the facility
  • Adhere to clinical protocols, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Provide coverage during scheduled clinic hours and support contract-specific assignments as needed
