About The Position

This is an Associate-level, contract, on-site position within a dynamic medical practice environment. As a Locum Gastroenterologist, you will provide expert consultative care, perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, and work collaboratively with our clinical team to ensure exceptional patient outcomes. You will play a key role in managing gastrointestinal conditions, supporting continuity of care, and upholding the highest standards of medical practice in every patient interaction.

Requirements

  • Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Board certification or board eligibility in Gastroenterology.
  • Active, unrestricted medical license, with the ability to practice in the applicable jurisdiction.
  • Associate-level experience in gastroenterology clinical practice or locum tenens assignments.
  • Proficiency in performing endoscopic procedures, including upper endoscopy, colonoscopy, and related gastroenterological interventions.
  • Strong clinical judgment, diagnostic reasoning, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective patient care and multidisciplinary collaboration.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, on-site medical practice environment.
  • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and maintaining accurate clinical documentation.
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care and maintaining professional ethical standards.
  • Board-certified.
  • ACLS and DEA certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive gastroenterology consultations and evaluations for patients in an on-site clinical setting.
  • Perform and interpret diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including endoscopy, colonoscopy, and other gastrointestinal interventions as clinically indicated.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans for a wide range of gastrointestinal conditions and disorders.
  • Order and interpret laboratory tests, imaging, and other diagnostic studies to support clinical decision-making.
  • Collaborate with nurses, primary care physicians, and other specialists to ensure coordinated, high-quality patient care.
  • Document patient encounters accurately in electronic medical records (EMR) and in compliance with facility policies and regulations.
  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, preventive care, and follow-up recommendations.
  • Participate in on-call coverage and respond promptly to urgent gastroenterology consultations.
  • Adhere to evidence-based clinical guidelines, patient safety protocols, and infection control standards.
  • Maintain continuity of care throughout the locum assignment and support seamless transitions with the care team.
