About The Position

Stake Center Locating is hiring entry-level Locate Technicians to locate underground utilities, troubleshoot, and mark the ground using paint and flags to promote damage prevention in the community. The company provides 100% paid on-the-job training and equipment. The role involves working outdoors in all weather, independently, and solving problems quickly and accurately. Technicians use a company vehicle for company purposes and take it home each night. Work schedules may include evenings, weekends, occasional holidays, and scheduled on-call shifts for emergency calls.

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to walk up to 5 miles per day, 2–3 times per week.
• Ability to carry up to 5 pounds of electronic locating equipment for extended periods.
• Ability to lift objects up to 25 pounds, or lift in excess of 75 pounds with tool aids.
• Pass pre-employment background and drug screening.
• Preference for outdoor work in all weather, independent work, and problem-solving with speed and accuracy.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays as ticket or production loads require.

Responsibilities

• Prioritize safety while performing locating work.
• Use a laptop to receive, document, and process tickets and email.
• Read maps and interpret blueprints to determine the best method and sequence for locating utilities.
• Use provided locating equipment and technology to accurately locate underground utilities.
• Troubleshoot and mark underground utilities using paint and flags.
• Communicate effectively with peers, managers, and homeowners.
• Respond to emergency calls during scheduled on-call shift rotations.
