About The Position

Stake Center Locating is hiring entry-level Locate Technicians to locate underground utilities, troubleshoot, and mark the ground with paint and flags to promote damage prevention in the community. The company provides on-the-job training and 100% paid training. Technicians use locating equipment and technology, a laptop, maps, and blueprints to process tickets and determine how to locate utilities. The role involves working outdoors in all weather, independently, and communicating with peers, managers, and homeowners. Employees may work some evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays, and respond to emergency calls during scheduled on-call rotations.

Requirements

• Be at least 18 years old.
• Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Have a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
• Be able to walk up to 5 miles a day, 2–3 times a week.
• Be able to carry up to 5 pounds of electronic locating equipment for extended periods; lift objects up to 25 pounds or lift over 75 pounds with tool aids.
• Pass pre-employment background and drug screening.
• Prefer to work outdoors in all weather, work independently, and solve problems with speed and accuracy.
• Be able to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays, and scheduled on-call rotations.

Responsibilities

• Prioritize safety while performing locating work.
• Use a laptop to receive, document, and process tickets and email.
• Read maps and interpret blueprints to determine the best locating method and sequence.
• Use provided locating equipment and technology to accurately locate underground utilities.
• Troubleshoot and mark underground utilities on the ground with paint and flags.
• Communicate effectively with peers, managers, and homeowners.
• Respond to emergency calls during scheduled on-call shift rotations.
