About The Position

Stake Center Locating is hiring entry-level Locate Technicians in Grayslake, Illinois, to locate underground utilities, troubleshoot, and mark the ground with paint and flags to help prevent damage in the community. The company provides on-the-job training and 100% paid training. The role involves working outdoors in all weather, independently, and solving problems quickly and accurately. Employees use a company vehicle for company purposes and take it home each night. The position pays $22.00 per hour.

Requirements

• Be at least 18 years old.
• Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Have a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
• Be able to walk up to 5 miles per day, 2–3 times a week.
• Be able to carry up to 5 pounds of electronic locating equipment for extended periods.
• Be able to lift objects up to 25 pounds, or lift more than 75 pounds with tool aids.
• Pass pre-employment background and drug screening.
• Be willing to work outdoors in all weather and work independently.
• Be able to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays as workload requires.
• Be available for emergency calls during scheduled on-call shift rotations.

Responsibilities

• Prioritize safety while performing locating work.
• Use a laptop to receive, document, and process tickets and email.
• Read maps and interpret blueprints to determine the best locating method and sequence.
• Use provided locating equipment and technology to accurately locate underground utilities.
• Communicate effectively with peers, managers, and homeowners.
• Respond to emergency calls during scheduled on-call shift rotations.
• Mark the ground with paint and flags to help prevent damage.
