About The Position

Stake Center Locating is hiring entry-level Locate Technicians to locate underground utilities, troubleshoot, and mark the ground with paint and flags to promote damage prevention in the community. The company provides on-the-job training, including 100% paid training, and equipment to help new technicians develop the skills needed for the role. Technicians work outdoors in all weather, often independently, and must solve problems quickly and accurately.

The role pays $22.00 per hour. Company-provided late-model vehicles with fuel cards are taken home nightly and are for company use only. The position requires a flexible schedule based on ticket and production volume, including some evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays. Employees also respond to emergency calls during scheduled on-call rotations.

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to walk up to 5 miles a day, 2–3 times a week.
• Ability to carry up to 5 pounds of electronic locating equipment for extended periods.
• Ability to lift objects up to 25 pounds, or lift objects in excess of 75 pounds with tool aids.
• Pass pre-employment background and drug screening.
• Preference for outdoor work in all weather, independent work, and problem-solving with speed and accuracy.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays, as ticket or production volume requires.

Responsibilities

• Prioritize safety while performing locating work.
• Use a laptop to receive, document, and process tickets and email.
• Read maps and interpret blueprints to determine the best locating method and sequence.
• Use provided locating equipment and technology to accurately locate underground utilities.
• Communicate effectively with peers, managers, and homeowners.
• Respond to emergency calls during scheduled on-call shift rotations.
