About The Position

Stake Center Locating is hiring entry-level Locate Technicians to locate underground utilities, troubleshoot, and mark the ground with paint and flags to help prevent damage in the community. The company provides 100% paid on-the-job training and the equipment needed to develop the basic skills for the role. The position involves working outdoors in varying weather, independently, and solving problems quickly and accurately. Technicians use a company vehicle for company purposes and take it home each night.

Requirements

• Be at least 18 years of age.
• Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Have a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
• Be able to walk up to five miles per day, two to three times a week.
• Be able to carry up to five pounds of electronic locating equipment for extended periods.
• Be able to lift objects up to 25 pounds, or lift more than 75 pounds with tool aids.
• Pass pre-employment background and drug screening.
• Be willing to work outdoors in all weather, independently, and solve problems with speed and accuracy.
• Be able to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays as ticket or production load requires.

Responsibilities

• Prioritize safety while performing locating work.
• Use a laptop to receive, document, and process tickets and email.
• Read maps and interpret blueprints to determine the best locating method and sequence.
• Use provided locating equipment and technology to accurately locate underground utilities.
• Communicate effectively with peers, managers, and homeowners.
• Respond to emergency calls during scheduled on-call shift rotations.
