About The Position

Ben E. Keith Company is hiring a local Class A CDL Driver to perform product deliveries along assigned routes and complete related duties that support customer satisfaction. The driver assembles orders, meets delivery windows, places products in customer-designated storage locations, and maintains delivery accuracy and product condition. The position also involves inspecting vehicle equipment, maintaining route and delivery records, handling paperwork and customer receipts or payments, and reporting mechanical issues, delays, accidents, and other traffic situations. The driver must follow company transportation policies, traffic laws, DOT and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, and applicable food and personal safety requirements. Ben E. Keith’s fleet uses AI-enabled dash camera technology to recognize safe driving behaviors and support safety performance and accident investigations. Drivers receive information about the program and sign a consent form during hiring. The role requires repetitive lifting, extensive walking, standing for long periods, and working in all types of weather.

Requirements

At least 1 year of route driving experience.
DOT certification.
Must be at least 21 years old.
Valid State Class A CDL license in the state of residence.
Knowledge of and adherence to DOT and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
Ability to understand and enforce regulatory guidelines.
Knowledge of customer service principles and quality standards.
Ability to use Microsoft Office and learn new applications or proprietary software.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Basic math skills.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with multiple levels of the organization.
Self-motivated and customer-focused.

High school diploma or GED.
Able to perform repetitive lifting of over 50 pounds and occasional lifting of over 100 pounds.
Able to work in all types of weather conditions and walk extensively.
Able to stand for long periods and bend at the waist, stoop, and squat to lift heavy items properly.
Normal use of shoulders, arms, wrists, hands, feet, and legs.
Able to read numbers and product descriptions.

Responsibilities

Perform product deliveries along assigned routes and carry out related duties to ensure customer satisfaction.
Inspect vehicle equipment and supplies, including tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water, and request service or repairs as needed.
Assemble orders for timely delivery and meet accurate delivery windows at each route stop.
Place delivered products in assigned storage locations according to customer requests.
Maintain delivery accuracy and prevent product damage from mishandling.
Immediately communicate problems to the Transportation Supervisor by phone.
Read maps and follow written and verbal geographic directions.
Manage multiple assignments and use time, equipment, and materials appropriately.
Follow BEK transportation policies and procedures, safety guidelines, traffic laws, DOT regulations, food and personal safety regulations, and company personnel policies.
Remain DOT compliant and stay aware of changes to DOT guidelines.
Meet BEK standards for professional appearance, conduct, and training.
Complete administrative tasks and paperwork related to transportation operations.
Review customer invoices to determine items to be moved, gathered, distributed, and delivered.
Report mechanical problems, delays, accidents, and other traffic situations to the base location as needed.
Turn in receipts and monies received from customer deliveries.
Maintain vehicle logs, cargo records, and billing statements in accordance with BEK policies.
