About The Position

Dickerson & Bowen is a provider of aggregates, asphalt, and asphalt paving services in central and southern Mississippi. The Loader Operator operates a straight or articulated rubber-tired tractor-type vehicle equipped with a front-mounted, hydraulically powered bucket or scoop. The equipment is used to move bulk materials to and from storage or processing areas, feed conveyors, hoppers, or chutes, and load trucks.

The operator starts and controls the loader, drives it into bulk material, raises and tilts the bucket when filled, transports material to a work site, and dumps it. The position also performs routine loader maintenance, including lubricating, fueling, and cleaning. Proper certification and a valid driver’s license are required. The employer maintains a drug-free workplace and performs pre-hire drug testing. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent years of experience.
• Proper certification.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Appropriate training and experience.
• Practice good safety habits.
• Work in dusty or dirty surroundings.
• Follow instructions and meet set standards.
• Judge distances and slopes accurately and make decisions based on verifiable standards.
• Be able to stoop, bend, and crouch; fully use hands, arms, and legs; and see well, naturally or with correction.
• Lift up to 50 pounds, with frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Operate the loader using its engine, gears, pedals, steering wheel, and controls.
• Lower and tilt the bucket, drive the loader into bulk material, and raise and tilt the bucket when filled.
• Transport bulk material to a work site and dump it.
• Move bulk materials to and from storage or processing areas, feed conveyors, hoppers, or chutes, and load trucks.
• Perform routine loader maintenance, including lubricating, fueling, and cleaning.
