About The Position

The Loader Operator/Material Handler receives, transfers, and loads incoming and outgoing materials, including EAF dust, in-process materials such as pellets and anthracite, Waelz Iron Product, and Waelz Zinc Oxide, to support the overall production process. The role operates mobile equipment and supports safe, environmentally sound plant operations while helping meet quality, production, and recovery goals. The position also involves collecting and recording facility data, maintaining work areas using Lean/5S methods, and performing preventive and general maintenance.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Basic computer skills.
Ability to communicate effectively in writing, verbally, and otherwise.
Knowledge of company safety, health, environmental, and production policies and procedures.
Must obtain HAZWOPER training certification.
Must be qualified to wear a respirator.
Must obtain and maintain in-house mobile equipment licensing.
Ability to take and follow direction.
Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
Ability to climb stairs and ladders regularly and work in all outdoor weather conditions.
Ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including respirators.

Responsibilities

Receive, transfer, and load incoming and outgoing materials.
Operate mobile equipment, including front-end loaders, forklifts, telehandlers, scissor lifts, vacuum sweepers, and golf carts.
Assist with monitoring and maintaining plant processes and equipment safely and in an environmentally sound manner while supporting quality, production, and recovery goals.
Maintain general working knowledge of plant equipment, including conveyors, baghouses, dryers, kilns, and pelletizers.
Take and follow direction, and communicate effectively with others.
Collect and record data throughout the facility.
Sweep, clean, organize, and stock areas, parts, tools, and supplies using Lean/5S methods.
Perform preventive maintenance and assist with general maintenance when the process is down.
Perform other duties as assigned.
