About The Position

This position works with hogs in the yards, including driving, sorting, weighing, tattooing, marking, and penning livestock while maintaining accurate inventories and head counts. When not working with livestock, the role performs light building maintenance and showcase duties. The job requires moving hogs safely and effectively with minimal stress and following humane handling guidelines. Team members must also meet safety responsibilities, including personal and food safety, and perform other duties as deemed appropriate by the supervisor.

Requirements

• At least one year of prior experience working with and handling livestock in loading and unloading operations.
• Experience operating skid loaders and forklifts.
• Good written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate with team members at all levels and government officials.
• Ability to work in a very fast-paced environment.
• Ability to lift 70 pounds or more unassisted.
• Ability to stand for extended periods of 8 to 10 hours, excluding break time.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic experience with livestock handling in a meat-industry procurement area.
• Prior knowledge and experience with humane animal handling procedures, processes, and general procurement policies.
• Basic computer knowledge.
