About The Position

Griswold Home Care for Northern Vermont is seeking experienced Live-In Caregivers to provide dependable, non-medical assistance and companionship to older adults who wish to remain safely and comfortably in their homes. Caregivers help clients maintain independence while providing personal care, companionship, support with daily routines, and a sense of safety and consistency. Assignments may also be available in Blair County, Philadelphia, or Cumberland County, Pennsylvania.

This is a live-in position: the caregiver stays in the client's home during the assignment. Responsibilities, schedule, sleeping arrangements, time away from the home, overnight expectations, rest periods, and compensation vary by client and care plan and are discussed before an assignment is accepted. Live-in care does not necessarily mean being continuously awake and actively working for 24 hours. Caregivers must be comfortable staying overnight and may be away from home for extended periods while on an assignment.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of professional caregiving experience with older adults.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Authorized to work in the United States.
• Reliable transportation.
• Valid driver's license and automobile insurance when transportation is required for the assignment.
• Ability to successfully complete required background and employment screenings.
• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position.
• Dependability and punctuality.
• Strong communication skills and willingness to promptly report concerns, changes, or problems.
• Comfort working independently and following care plans and instructions.
• Comfort communicating with families and office staff.
• Ability to recognize and report changes in a client's condition or needs.
• Respect for client privacy, personal boundaries, and the client's home.
• Strong work ethic, professional judgment, patience, attentiveness, and initiative.
• Comfort staying overnight in a client's home and being away from home for extended periods when accepting a live-in assignment.
• Ability to adapt to different client personalities and household environments.

Responsibilities

• Assist with activities of daily living and personal care.
• Provide companionship and meaningful conversation.
• Prepare meals and assist clients with meals.
• Perform light housekeeping and maintain a comfortable living environment.
• Provide medication reminders.
• Assist with mobility and transfers as appropriate.
• Assist with toileting and incontinence care when needed.
• Provide transportation to appointments, errands, or activities when applicable.
• Support routines and daily activities while encouraging independence and participation.
• Monitor changes in the client's condition, mood, behavior, needs, or safety.
• Communicate important observations and concerns to the office and/or family.
• Follow the client's individualized care plan and household expectations.
• Provide overnight presence and assistance when required.
• Maintain client dignity, privacy, safety, and appropriate professional boundaries.
• Communicate with the Griswold office team and work as part of the care team.
