About The Position

Harris & Company LLP (Harris) is one of Western Canada’s largest workplace law and advocacy firms. We are dedicated to providing unparalleled client service, maintaining a deep understanding of our clients’ businesses and building ongoing client relationships. We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Litigation Paralegal to support our team on an 18-month contract. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with lawyers on a variety of matters while contributing to efficient file management and successful case outcomes.

Requirements

  • Paralegal diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in civil litigation. Experience with workplace law practice preferred
  • Strong knowledge of procedure, rules and filing requirements applicable to all levels of court and administrative tribunals relevant to our workplace law practice
  • Experience preparing court documents, pleadings, and affidavits
  • Ability to manage multiple files and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and high ethical standards
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment and also independently with minimal supervision
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite applications
  • Experience working with eDiscovery software, ideally Ipro and/or Casepoint

Responsibilities

  • Support multiple lawyers with day-to-day paralegal tasks and file management
  • Maintain bring-forward systems and track key litigation timelines
  • Conduct procedural research related to court and tribunal rules
  • Prepare and review court forms, pleadings, and legal correspondence under lawyer supervision
  • Assist with drafting applications and supporting affidavits
  • File court documents and coordinate hearing and trial dates
  • Prepare litigation checklists and calculate court deadlines and conduct money
  • Support preparation for hearings, mediations, and trials
  • Assist with document production, including organizing and reviewing documents for relevance and privilege
  • Support discovery processes, including responding to examination for discovery requests
  • Conduct Land Title searches, as required
  • Provide guidance and support to legal assistants on procedural matters
