About The Position

The Literacy and Language Intervention Specialist will provide specialized instruction and support to students who are struggling with literacy and language development. This role involves assessing student needs, developing and implementing intervention strategies, and collaborating with teachers, parents, and other professionals to ensure student success. The specialist will work to improve students' reading, writing, and communication skills, fostering a positive learning environment and promoting academic growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Special Education, Speech-Language Pathology, or a related field.
  • Valid teaching license or certification appropriate for the role.
  • Experience working with students with literacy and language challenges.
  • Knowledge of various literacy and language intervention strategies.
  • Strong assessment and data analysis skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience with Response to Intervention (RTI) models.
  • Training in specific literacy intervention programs (e.g., Orton-Gillingham).
  • Bilingual skills (Spanish/English).

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct literacy and language intervention to students.
  • Assess students' strengths and weaknesses in literacy and language.
  • Develop and implement individualized intervention plans.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to support student learning.
  • Communicate with parents and guardians regarding student progress.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and interventions.
  • Stay current with best practices in literacy and language instruction.
