About The Position

The Commons at Lincoln, a premier continuing care retirement community on the Benchmark Senior Living team, is hiring full-time Cooks for Independent Living and/or its Health Center. The Cook prepares and serves nutritious, flavorful meals with high-quality presentation for residents, following applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, regulations, and Benchmark policies and procedures. The Executive Chef oversees the role and supports consistent, quality food service. The position offers reliable, schedule-stabilizing hours and includes one weekend day.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of dietary experience.
• Knowledge of dietary procedures and related laws, regulations, and guidelines for food service operations.
• Leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise professional and non-professional personnel.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand for extended periods; the position is primarily standing.

• Culinary Arts training.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all dietary procedures are followed.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and effectively, including equipment such as meat slicers, food processors, mixers, ovens, grills, steamers, dishwashers, dumb waiters, and warmer cabinets.
• Assist in establishing the food production line so meals are prepared on time.
• Represent the community positively and with pride when interacting with potential residents and families.
• Prepare and serve nutritious meals with high-quality presentation and flavor.
