About The Position

The Line Cook serves customers consistent, high-quality food and works as part of the team to create a memorable dining experience. The role requires knowledge of menu items, portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards, and kitchen rules, as well as close coordination with the Chef and coworkers to prepare and deliver each ticket on time. The Line Cook maintains a clean, stocked workstation; assists with preparation, deliveries, and kitchen closing; and follows safety practices and company policies. The position is part-time at the Red Circle Inn, a fine-dining restaurant in Waukesha County, Wisconsin.

Requirements

U.S. work authorization is required.
Basic math skills, including addition and subtraction.
Legible handwriting.
Strong customer service and oral communication skills.

Nice To Haves

At least one year of kitchen experience; preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Know and understand menu items, portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards, and kitchen rules.
Take full responsibility for the quality of products served.
Work closely with the Chef to ensure consistency on every plate.
Manage timing so tickets are completed within an appropriate amount of time.
Stay focused on designated tasks during prime service hours and communicate consistently with coworkers.
Once the station is ready for service, help other team members with preparation as needed.
Keep the workstation clean and stocked.
Practice safe knife handling and seek training from the Chef if needed.
Help put away deliveries when assistance is needed.
Respect coworkers, including front-of-house staff.
Open and close the kitchen properly and follow station checklists; assist with closing and remain until a manager inspects the station.
Arrive promptly and in full uniform for scheduled shifts and mandatory meetings.
Follow the policies in the employee handbook.
Maintain a positive, helpful attitude at work.
