Lighting Studio Design Manager
About The Position
Borealis Lighting Studio is seeking a Studio Design Manager for their Boston office. This is a design-leadership role responsible for running projects from concept through construction administration, driving creative vision, and bringing design conviction. The role involves working at the intersection of lighting design and engineering, practicing human-centric and sustainable design. The studio has autonomy to pursue various project types beyond BR+A's core markets, including healthcare, laboratory, specialized environments, landscape, exterior, corporate, hospitality, and museum/art installations. The position requires a hybrid work model, with four days in the office and one day remote.
Requirements
- 8+ years designing architectural lighting, including leading projects and client relationships
- Distinctive, confident design sensibility: originate a concept from first principles, carry it through every project phase, and sell it persuasively to architects and clients
- A degree from an accredited program specializing in lighting design, or a degree in a related field (architecture or interior design) backed by strong experience and a compelling body of work
- Fluency in Revit, AutoCAD, AGI32, Photoshop, and InDesign
- LC or CLD certification required
