About The Position

The Design Consultant sets appointments and meets with customers in store to determine their design needs and help select tile, wood, stone, and installation products in a range of colors, textures, and patterns. The role develops design plans, sells products to fulfill those plans, and works to meet and exceed established goals. It also involves managing design applications and maintaining customer relationships from initial engagement through post-purchase follow-up.

Requirements

• One year of interior design experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job, as determined by the company.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Proficiency in basic mathematical skills.
• Self-motivation and ability to multitask.
• Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
• Basic computer knowledge, including the Microsoft Office suite.
• Willingness to work retail hours, including weekends and some holidays.

Nice To Haves

• Prior retail sales experience.
• Knowledge of hard-surface flooring.

Responsibilities

• Set appointments and meet with customers to determine design needs and formulate design plans.
• Sell tile, wood, and stone products to complete design plans.
• Meet and exceed established goals.
• Understand, use, and manage design applications, including SketchUp, the proprietary Online Design Appointment Scheduler, MyOrder, and Salesforce (CRM).
• Maintain customer contact and manage relationships from pre-appointment and initial engagement through post-purchase follow-up.
• Work in a manner consistent with the company’s core values.
• Provide timely feedback on product needs and assortment gaps in partnership with the Design Studio Manager and the SDRM.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
