The Lifestyle CEP Coach will deliver care and support to patients in the flagship virtual cardiac rehab program, operating as a core member of an ICR transdisciplinary team. This role utilizes a collaborative lifestyle medicine framework across Nutrition, Stress Management, Group Support, and Exercise. The coach will champion the use of telehealth to expand access to care and contribute to groundbreaking clinical studies. Passion for helping people and transforming healthcare delivery is essential.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2+ years of relevant clinical experience and top performance working as a Clinical Exercise Physiologist at an in-person Cardiopulmonary Rehab Facility.
  • Strong proficiency working with mobile technology, including troubleshooting technology issues with wearables and tablets.
  • Great interpersonal skills that foster a caring environment for patients.
  • Diligence and organization with the ability to create and adhere to repeatable processes.
  • Ability to perform with little direction in a high-growth, early-stage startup (self-driven).
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Physiology.
  • ACSM-CEP certification preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree in Exercise Physiology.
  • Prior experience delivering the Ornish ICR program.
  • Registered Dietitian or other nutrition education (such as a Masters in Nutrition Science).
  • Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT).
  • Licensed clinical social worker or other mental health professional.
  • Experience running support groups.
  • Spanish language proficiency.
  • Experience participating in clinical trials or healthcare research studies.
  • Previous remote work/telehealth experience.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate prescriptions and treat cardiac rehab patients according to clinical protocols.
  • Deliver high-quality care for patients in the cardiac rehab program and clinical studies.
  • Provide education during Lifestyle Classes and respond to patients’ technical issues.
  • Work directly with founders to innovate and improve the digital care delivery model.
  • Support patients, empowering them to be accountable and take ownership of their rehabilitation.
  • Collaborate with the technology team to ensure a smooth experience for patients and clients.
  • Actively engage in a highly collaborative, interdisciplinary team approach, serving as a primary catalyst for healing and patient connection.
  • Maintain a basic understanding of all four program element guidelines to support holistic, multi-directional patient education.
  • Ensure a great, engaging rehab experience for patients.
  • Demonstrate deep knowledge and competency of a very low-fat, low-sugar, whole foods plant-based (WFPB) lifestyle and its role in disease reversal and biological mechanisms.
  • Educate and coach patients on adopting, meal planning, grocery shopping, label reading, cooking, and dining out according to reversal nutrition guidelines.
  • Teach participants how nutrition works synergistically with stress management, physical activity, and social support to address cardiovascular disease drivers.
  • Guide patients through the five core Ornish ICR stress management techniques: gentle postures, mindful breathing, progressive relaxation, healing imagery, and meditation.
  • Educate patients on the physiological impacts of stress on blood pressure, heart rate, angina/chest pain, blood vessel spasms, clot formation, cholesterol, and triglyceride levels.
  • Coach patients to adopt the daily 60-minute stress management prescription into their personal schedules.
  • Create and maintain an emotionally safe virtual environment utilizing active listening, mindful session pacing, and conflict de-escalation skills.
  • Lead feelings-based group processes using compassionate, motivational communication; help patients differentiate between thoughts and feelings or emotions, build comfort in expressing feelings, and listen with empathy.
  • Educate participants on the documented medical value of group support in reducing social loneliness and isolation.
