About The Position

The Lifeguard supervises swimming activities at the aquatics facility and ensures that policies, guidelines, and safety procedures are followed. The role includes enforcing pool regulations and water safety policies, responding to emergencies, and teaching swim lessons for Sunburst Swim School. Lifeguards attend preseason training in May and weekly in-service trainings throughout the summer.

Requirements

• American Red Cross Lifeguarding (Including Deep Water) certification with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid Certification, obtained before May 1, 2026.

Responsibilities

• Supervise swimming activities at the aquatics facility and ensure policies, guidelines, and safety procedures are followed.
• Warn swimmers of improper activities or danger and enforce pool regulations and water safety policies.
• Administer first aid when injuries occur; rescue swimmers in distress or danger of drowning; and administer CPR and/or artificial respiration when necessary.
• Evaluate conditions for safety and initiate the aquatics emergency action plan as required.
• Teach beginner to advanced swim lessons for Sunburst Swim School.
• Attend preseason training in May and weekly in-service trainings throughout summer.
