Sunburst Bay Lifeguard Summer 2027
About The Position
The Lifeguard supervises swimming activities at the aquatics facility and ensures that policies, guidelines, and safety procedures are followed. The role includes warning swimmers about unsafe or improper activity, enforcing pool regulations and water safety policies, providing first aid, rescuing swimmers in distress, and administering CPR or artificial respiration when needed. Lifeguards evaluate conditions for safety and initiate the aquatics emergency action plan as required. The position also teaches beginner through advanced swim lessons for Sunburst Swim School and requires preseason training in May and weekly in-service training throughout the summer.
Requirements
- American Red Cross Lifeguarding (Including Deep Water) certification with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid Certification, obtained before May 1, 2026.
Responsibilities
- Supervise swimming activities at the aquatics facility and ensure policies, guidelines, and safety procedures are followed.
- Warn swimmers of improper activities or danger and enforce pool regulations and water safety policies.
- Administer first aid in the event of injury.
- Rescue swimmers in distress or danger of drowning.
- Administer CPR and/or artificial respiration when necessary.
- Evaluate conditions for safety and initiate the aquatics emergency action plan as required.
- Teach beginner to advanced swim lessons for Sunburst Swim School.
- Attend preseason training in May and weekly in-service trainings throughout the summer.
