About The Position

Sequencing is hiring its first dedicated owner of lifecycle and retention marketing to build the playbook and program from the ground up. The role owns customer communications throughout the journey—from DNA kit onboarding and activation through results delivery, subscription engagement, retention, win-back, and referral. Success is measured by retention, subscription engagement, and customer lifetime value. The Lifecycle & Retention Lead reports to the Head of Marketing & Growth and partners closely with Product, Engineering, and Data. The role combines customer insight, messaging, campaign execution, and data analysis to help customers understand and engage with personalized genomic insights. It is a hands-on position in an early-stage company, with responsibility for building and optimizing automated campaigns and experiments across email, SMS, push, and in-product messaging. Sequencing is a profitable, venture-backed, fully remote company developing AI-powered personalized health products based on clinical-grade whole genome sequencing. Its mission is to make genomic information a lifelong source of personalized guidance.

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of experience in lifecycle, CRM, or retention marketing at direct-to-consumer subscription companies.
  • Experience owning recurring revenue and retention, not only email campaigns.
  • Prior experience diagnosing and addressing a retention cliff, including explaining the data, root cause, intervention, and impact on churn or lifetime value.
  • Experience at an early-stage company from seed through Series B, or on a small team with end-to-end lifecycle ownership and broad responsibilities.
  • Strong writing skills and a portfolio demonstrating lifecycle campaigns and their results.
  • Hands-on experience building segments and triggered journeys in a lifecycle platform such as Blueshift, Braze, Iterable, Klaviyo, or a similar tool.
  • Ability to conduct cohort and retention analyses using SQL or BI tools and evaluate experiment results with sound judgment.
  • Experience translating technical or scientific content for a general audience.
  • Daily use of AI tools as a co-pilot.

  • Build, launch, and optimize automated campaigns across email, SMS, push, and in-product messaging.
  • Drive awareness and adoption of features and results through targeted, personalized messaging.
  • Design and run experiments with clear hypotheses and success metrics across messaging, offers, timing, channels, and audiences.
