About The Position

The Licensing Specialist serves in various licensing capacities including resident, non-resident, renewal, reinstatement, license changes, and background checks. This role involves receiving, researching, and responding to inquiries or complaints, providing information, explaining policies and procedures, and facilitating resolutions. The specialist will analyze, summarize, and review data, report findings, interpret results, and make recommendations. A key responsibility is ensuring compliance with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines. The role also involves interpreting, clarifying, explaining, and applying agency policies, procedures, business practices, and laws. The specialist will identify developing patterns of problems or complaints from data and information, suggesting the need for further investigation. They will review electronic applications, assist the public with problems, and research and interpret data from various sources, including legal documents. Communication with licensing vendors, NIPR, and Sircon is essential, as is working with vendors to resolve issues related to the licensing process, such as fee posting problems or online procedure changes. The specialist acts as a liaison and resource to assist the public and others, reviews problems related to electronic applications, and retrieves data from databases to generate reports. Writing, drafting, and processing data, documents, and reports, as well as coordinating various projects and services, are also part of the role.

Requirements

  • Ability to understand principles, theories and practices of one or more of the following types of insurance: life, health, title, property and casualty, bail bond insurance, etc.
  • Ability to find, gather and collect information or data, conduct a methodical examination; evaluate information against a set of standards.
  • Ability to use automated software programs such as MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Ability to use computer relational database software.
  • Ability to deal with people in a manner which shows sensitivity, tact and professionalism.
  • Ability to compile, code, categorize, calculate, tabulate, audit, verify, or process information or data; use research methods, techniques, and/or sources of information.
  • Knowledge of interviewing techniques.
  • Knowledge of investigative techniques and processes.
  • Ability to decide or solve a problem by using logic to identify key facts, explore alternatives, and propose quality solutions, use logic to analyze or identify underlying principles, reasons, facts associated with information or data to draw conclusions.
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing, speak clearly, concisely and effectively; listen to, and understand, information and ideas as presented verbally.
  • Ability to organize information in a clear and concise manner.

  • Review electronic applications and assist the public and others with problems.
  • Review, research, and interpret data and other source material and documents.
  • Analyze legal documents.
  • Communicate with licensing vendors, NIPR and Sircon.
  • Work with licensing vendors to resolve a wide variety of issues of the licensing process, such as fees failing to post, needs for changes in their online procedures, feedback from clients, etc.
  • Act as a liaison and resource to provide assistance to the public and others.
  • Review problems related to electronic applications, including investigation and written communication relative to each problem application.
  • Retrieve data found in databases to generate requested reports.
  • Write, draft and process data, documents and reports, etc.
  • Coordinate various projects and services.
