Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) – Pediatric Private Duty Nursing
About The Position
MedCare Pediatric is hiring Licensed Vocational Nurses to provide one-on-one skilled nursing care to pediatric patients in their homes. Nurses care for children with serious illnesses, medical complexities, disabilities, or those recovering from injuries or extensive surgery, helping them remain safely with their families rather than in an inpatient facility. The role includes assessing patients, monitoring vital signs and seizure activity, managing specified medical equipment and treatments, administering medications, collaborating with the care team, and completing clinical documentation. The position offers structured, flexible 8–12-hour private-duty shifts and full-time or part-time opportunities. Day, night, weekday, and weekend shifts are available throughout the Greater Houston area and surrounding communities. Requirements
- Current Texas Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license.
- Current CPR certification.
- Valid driver's license and current auto liability insurance.
- At least 6 months of pediatric home health experience as an LVN.
Responsibilities
- Provide skilled one-on-one nursing care to pediatric patients in their homes during 8–12-hour shifts.
- Care for children with serious illnesses, medical complexities, disabilities, or recovering from injuries or extensive surgery.
- Assess patient conditions during each visit, including monitoring vital signs and seizure activity.
- Provide care for gastrostomy tubes (G-tubes), tracheostomies, CPAP/BiPAP, and ventilators.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed and according to the individualized plan of care.
- Collaborate with physicians, caregivers, and the interdisciplinary care team to support quality patient outcomes.
- Complete accurate and timely clinical documentation.
