LPN - Licensed Practical Nurse -Telemetry Unit - Multiple Shifts
About The Position
The Licensed Practical Nurse provides care to patients in the Telemetry Unit under the direction of a registered nurse or physician and within the scope of the LPN license. The unit cares for patients whose diagnosis or co-morbidities warrant telemetry monitoring. Nurses assess patients, interpret rhythms, analyze lab values, educate patients and families, provide wound care, manage IVs, and administer and manage medications. Telemetry nursing support and advanced technology help bedside staff provide a high level of care. The schedule listed is full-time nights, three 12-hour shifts from 7:00 pm to 7:00 am. Other shifts are described as available. A sign-on bonus of up to $10,000 is offered for full-time, 7-on/7-off, and weekend-only positions.
Requirements
- Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing.
- BLS Provider certification obtained within one month (30 days) of hire or job transfer; American Heart Association or American Red Cross certification accepted.
- Graduate of an accredited Practical Nursing program or equivalent.
Responsibilities
- Provide patient care under the direction of a registered nurse or physician and within the scope of the LPN license.
- Contribute to patient assessments and help assure patients' well-being.
- Administer medications and observe patients for adverse reactions to medications or treatments.
- Perform laboratory tests and therapeutic services.
- Educate patients and families about disease treatment plans, post-discharge self-care, holistic health needs, available resources, and follow-up care.
- Interpret rhythms, analyze lab values, provide wound care, manage IVs, and administer and manage medications.
