Requirements

  • Active authorization to practice as a Licensed Practice Nurse in Pennsylvania
  • All employees possessing an active temporary practice permit must obtain licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse within the one (1) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
  • If you are within 60 days of completing a licensed practical nursing program approved by the State Board of Nursing, you are eligible to apply for this job posting.
  • At the time of appointment to a position, you must show proof of possession of a current, valid PA temporary practice permit or PA Licensed Practical Nurse license.
  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
  • You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provide treatments, check vital signs, and assist inmates with daily living tasks to support their health needs
  • Administer medications as directed and document all treatments in the health record
  • Respond to urgent medical situations and deliver first aid or CPR when needed
  • Maintain accurate medical reports, prepare records for transfers, and manage controlled substance documentation
  • Sterilize medical tools and maintain proper inventory levels in treatment areas
  • Share essential information with staff to ensure continuity of care across shifts
