The Medical Records Technician position with the Department of Corrections gives you the chance to support important health services at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Fayette. Requirements
- Must be in possession of a valid Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certificate or a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certificate issued by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), or be eligible for certification including completion of an AHIMA approved RHIT or RHIA Health Information Management education program.
- If eligible for certification, must obtain RHIT or RHIA certification within 12 months of employment.
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- Must be able to perform essential job functions.
- Must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
Responsibilities
- Organize and maintain integrated health records for incarcerated individuals
- File, issue, and transfer medical records in line with confidentiality rules
- Examine medical files for accuracy and refer incomplete records to health staff
- Prepare periodic reports on health services and related topics
- Assemble documentation for court cases when medical files are subpoenaed
