About The Position

Armor has an opportunity for a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join its team at Franklin County Jail in Columbus, Ohio. The LPN provides holistic nursing care to patients in a correctional setting and supports health care providers, registered nurses, and allied health professionals with examinations, treatments, tests, and routine procedures. The position involves collecting patient histories and specimens, taking vital signs, administering TB skin tests and medications, conducting lab tests, coordinating transfers, implementing practitioners’ orders, and documenting patient care in POMR format. Requirements

Current, active state license as an LPN.
Current CPR certificate.
Proficiency with electronic medical records.
Ability to pass pre-employment Level 2 clearance, including a background check and drug screen.

Responsibilities

Provide holistic nursing care to patients in a correctional setting.
Assist health care providers, registered nurses, and allied health professionals with examinations, treatments, special tests, and routine procedures.
Obtain patient health histories, laboratory specimens, and vital signs; administer TB skin tests.
Conduct lab tests and ensure results are delivered to the correct physician or registered nurse.
Ensure patients receive appropriate care for their injuries or conditions.
Review patient charts and record and report observed symptoms, reactions, treatments, and changes in patient conditions.
Coordinate patient transfers to medical facilities or outside health care providers.
Administer medications and implement healthcare practitioners’ orders.
Document all patient contacts using the POMR format.
