About The Position
The Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board (H-NNCSB) is seeking a compassionate and reliable Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for the overnight shift at the BJ Roberts Behavioral Health Center in Hampton. This role provides essential nursing care, medication support, and well-being monitoring for adults facing acute mental health and substance use challenges, contributing to their safety, stabilization, and recovery within a supportive therapeutic environment.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited LPN nursing program
- One year of medication administration experience in substance abuse treatment, psychiatric care, or long-term care (including dispensing narcotic medication)
Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care and medication management to adults receiving behavioral health and substance use services, including controlled substances and methadone when applicable.
- Complete physical and mental health assessments, intake and follow-up interviews, and supportive nursing interventions.
- Monitor medication orders, inventories, secure storage, counts, and documentation to ensure safe and compliant medication practices.
- Collaborate with psychiatrists, providers, and the multidisciplinary team, communicating changes in condition and clinical concerns as needed.
- Maintain accurate clinical records while supporting a safe, therapeutic environment for individuals receiving crisis and behavioral health services.
