Psychiatric Technician – BJ Roberts Behavioral Health Center
About The Position
The Psychiatric Technician at the BJ Roberts Behavioral Health Center provides direct care, behavioral health support, and supervision to adults experiencing serious mental illness and co-occurring substance use disorders in an intensive, short-term residential setting. The role works alongside an interdisciplinary treatment team to maintain a safe, structured, recovery-focused environment that supports client stability, wellness, and independence. The position is full-time, with an available schedule of 3:00 pm–11:30 pm and rotating weekends. Evening, overnight, and weekend shifts receive a $2.50-per-hour shift differential. Annual salary is $40,091. The selected candidate must successfully pass a criminal history fingerprint background investigation, DMV record check, Child Registry search, drug screening test, and employment reference checks. H-NNCSB provides mental health, substance use, and developmental disability services to individuals and families throughout Hampton and Newport News, Virginia.
Requirements
- At least one year of direct care experience working with adults with serious mental illness.
- Successfully pass a criminal history fingerprint background investigation, DMV record check, Child Registry search, drug screening test, and employment reference checks.

Responsibilities
