About The Position

North Westchester Restorative has an ongoing need for per-diem Licensed Practical Nurses at a CPT-approved site. The LPN works under the supervision of a registered nurse or doctor and provides diverse basic care to patients with compassion, patience, and calm. The position is based in a long-term care and rehabilitation center and is performed in person. Night differential is offered for evening and overnight shifts.

Requirements

Proven experience as an LPN or in a similar role.
Ability to undertake a variety of care tasks and work in a multidisciplinary team.
Familiarity with hospital health, safety, and sanitation standards and procedures.
Understanding of confidentiality obligations and nursing best practices.
Excellent knowledge of medical and hospital terminology.
Good knowledge of MS Office and data entry.
Physical condition and stamina sufficient for the job.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Compassion and ability to handle stress.
Successful completion of an LPN license program.
Must work one weekend per month and one major and one minor holiday; a set weekend will be provided upon hire.

Responsibilities

Record patients’ medical histories accurately.
Take and record measurements such as blood pressure, temperature, and heart rate.
Observe patients under treatment to identify progress and medication side effects.
Monitor patients’ conditions, including fluid intake and output, and compose patient charts.
Assist patients with daily activities such as eating and bathing.
Administer injections, prescribed medications, and enemas; clean and dress wounds; and assist with other basic medical care tasks.
Collect samples for laboratory testing as assigned.
Provide emotional and psychological support when needed.
Communicate with patients’ family or friends to provide advice, comfort, and release instructions.
