Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) (Union)
About The Position
Glen Cove Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation is seeking full-time and part-time Licensed Practical Nurses to join its team. The LPN provides basic care to patients who are ill or injured in a professional and considerate manner, working under the supervision of a registered nurse or doctor. The role calls for qualified, compassionate, patient, and calm professionals who can provide diverse care in a demanding but rewarding environment. Full-time shifts are 7–3, and part-time shifts are 3–11 and 11–7. The position is at a CPT-approved site and is represented by 1199. Pay is $35.88 per hour.
Requirements
- Proven experience as an LPN or in a similar role.
- Ability to perform a variety of care tasks and work in a multidisciplinary team.
- Familiarity with healthcare safety and sanitation standards and procedures.
- Understanding of confidentiality obligations and nursing best practices.
- Excellent knowledge of medical and hospital terminology.
- Good knowledge of MS Office and data entry.
- Physical condition and stamina to perform the role.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Compassion and ability to handle stress.
- Successful completion of an LPN licensing program.
Responsibilities
- Accurately record patients’ medical histories.
- Take and record measurements such as blood pressure, temperature, and heart rate.
- Observe patients receiving treatment to identify progress and medication side effects.
- Monitor patients’ conditions, including fluid intake and output, and maintain patient charts.
- Assist patients with daily activities such as eating and bathing.
- Administer injections, prescribed medications, and enemas; clean and dress wounds; and provide other basic medical care.
- Collect samples for laboratory testing as assigned.
- Provide emotional and psychological support when needed.
- Communicate with patients’ family members or friends to provide advice, comfort, and release instructions.
