About The Position

The Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board (H-NNCSB) is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our Child & Adolescent Outpatient team. As part of a multidisciplinary treatment team, you will work closely with psychiatrists, nurses, therapists, and other professionals committed to providing high-quality, person-centered care to youth and their families.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) program with a current, active Virginia LPN license
One (1) year of experience administering medications in a psychiatric, behavioral health, substance use treatment, long-term care, or related healthcare setting.
Must successfully pass a criminal history fingerprint background investigation, DMV record check, Child Registry search, drug screening test and employment reference checks.

Responsibilities

Support psychiatric and medical care for youth receiving medication management services.
Assisting the psychiatrist with medication management and treatment planning
Administering, monitoring, ordering, and dispensing medications
Conducting routine physical and mental health assessments
Completing medical intakes and obtaining vital signs
Monitoring clients for medication effectiveness and side effects
Providing education and supportive counseling to clients and families
Maintaining accurate medical records and documentation
Managing medication inventory and ensuring proper medication security
Scheduling medical appointments and coordinating follow-up care
Communicating effectively with treatment team members regarding client needs
