About The Position

Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is looking for a Licensed Practical Nurse to join the team at Lions Gate Hospital in North Vancouver, BC. This role involves working as a member of an interdisciplinary care team, performing full scope of practical nursing functions for clients with predictable outcomes within a designated area of specialty. Responsibilities include assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and documenting client care, and providing support to clients and their families. The LPN will also support the Registered Nurse in caring for clients with unpredictable outcomes or where the acuity or complexity of care requires an advanced level of knowledge and skill. Maintaining and advancing clinical competence pursuant to the standards of practice of BCCNM for Licensed Practical Nurses is also a key aspect of the role. Requirements

  • Graduation from a recognized program for Practical Nurses or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Current practicing registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Work independently and collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary care team.
  • Perform full scope of practical nursing functions for clients with predictable outcomes within a designated area of specialty.
  • Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and document client care.
  • Provide support to clients and their families.
  • Support the Registered Nurse in caring for clients with unpredictable outcomes or where the acuity or complexity of care requires an advanced level of knowledge and skill.
  • Maintain and advance clinical competence pursuant to the standards of practice of BCCNM for Licensed Practical Nurses.
