About The Position

Warby Parker is seeking skilled, enthusiastic Opticians to join its in-house optical team. The Optician helps customers with their eyewear needs and provides exceptional service, whether assisting longtime Warby Parker customers or first-time wearers. The role involves becoming an expert in the brand and its glasses, explaining prescriptions and products, and helping customers select frames and lenses suited to their prescription, fit, style, and lifestyle. The Optician works closely with teammates and contributes to sales and customer-service practices across the organization while representing Warby Parker’s values and mission.

Requirements

• Be a licensed dispensing optician in states that require a license, or an ABO-certified optician in states without licensing requirements.
• Be passionate about the eyewear and retail industries.
• Communicate clearly, effectively, and professionally, including explaining technical terms to customers.
• Be dedicated to going above and beyond for customers and teammates.
• Be an energetic, positive team player who can adapt in a fast-paced, changing work environment.
• Be detail-oriented and capable of managing a wide range of responsibilities.
• Be open-minded, committed to learning, and willing to challenge existing knowledge.
• Take work seriously while maintaining a sense of humor.
• Not be on the Office of Inspector General's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).

Responsibilities

• Work directly with customers to meet their eyewear needs.
• Take and record measurements, adjust and fit eyewear accurately.
• Check finished eyewear against optical standards and customer requirements and requests.
• Explain prescription terminology and product offerings to customers.
• Work with the team to ensure customers receive exceptional service.
• Help customers choose frames and lenses based on prescription needs, face fit, personal style, and lifestyle.
• Collaborate with the team to develop sales and customer-service best practices for use throughout the organization.
• Represent the brand and educate others about its values and mission.
