About The Position
Prava is seeking a Part-Time Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to provide meaningful, occupation-based therapy in Memory Care communities. The role emphasizes integrating therapy into daily routines and activities, recognizing that the environment, routine, and approach are as crucial as the intervention itself, especially when working with individuals living with dementia. The position is particularly interested in a COTA who values evening ADL intervention, viewing tasks like getting ready for dinner, dressing, grooming, toileting, positioning, and preparing for bed as significant therapy opportunities. The philosophy centers on adapting therapy to the resident rather than expecting the resident to fit the therapy, addressing potential barriers such as overwhelming environments, changed routines, complex instructions, or the need for familiar cues. The goal is to support residents in maintaining independence and dignity by understanding the person behind the diagnosis and adapting the environment and approach to facilitate participation.

Responsibilities
- Provide ADL and IADL intervention within the plan of care
- Incorporate therapy into real evening routines
- Support dressing, grooming, toileting, positioning, mobility-related ADLs, and other meaningful occupations within your scope
- Use cueing, sequencing, environmental modification, and compensatory strategies to support participation
- Identify environmental barriers to successful engagement
- Support residents in maintaining familiar routines and meaningful roles
- Partner with caregivers and community staff to improve carryover
- Help preserve independence and dignity
- Build relationships with residents and learn the person behind the diagnosis
