About The Position

This role is for an Occupational Therapist in Memory Care, with the opportunity to start part-time and grow into a full-time position. The position involves providing meaningful, occupation-based care to residents living with dementia. A key aspect of this role is participating in an exciting pilot program involving emerging falls technology, exploring how technology and clinical expertise can collaborate to identify risk, support intervention, and enhance resident safety. The therapy approach emphasizes adapting to the resident's needs and integrating therapy into daily life, such as during ADLs like dressing, grooming, and preparing for bed, particularly focusing on evening ADL intervention. The role also involves addressing environmental barriers, using various therapeutic strategies, partnering with caregivers, and building relationships with residents.

Responsibilities

  • Provide meaningful, occupation-based care to residents living with dementia
  • Collaborate closely with the broader Prava team
  • Evaluate residents and develop individualized plans of care
  • Provide skilled OT focused on meaningful occupations
  • Incorporate real-world ADLs and routines into treatment
  • Support evening ADLs and functional participation
  • Address environmental barriers and recommend meaningful adaptations
  • Use cueing, sequencing, compensatory strategies, and environmental modification
  • Partner with caregivers and community teams
  • Participate in the falls technology pilot
  • Help translate emerging technology into practical clinical intervention
  • Build relationships with residents and learn the person behind the diagnosis
